Started in 2007, the Real H’s Project Cycles Recycling is an initiative that arose from the need to give a destination to solid waste produced by the company. The veterinarian Mario Real had the idea of engaging employees in this environmental commitment. Through lectures and being an example, Real had great acceptance and his staff began to bring from home recyclable trash.
Part of the amount collected from the sale of material is intended for individual awards, where employees who contributed most during the month, earn a bonus. Another portion is aimed at collective benefit improvements: renovation of the cafeteria, purchase of television, benches for resting, games used in break time, end of year party costs, social activities, among others.
“Recycling is an ancient practice in first world countries that seek to mitigate the garbage problem. In Brazil, things still go slowly, although there is specific legislation, however, regardless of that, we fulfill our part preventing the waste is discarded and further complicate the dumps, “says Mario Real.
He adds that the mission of the Real H is to act in an environmentally sound manner in the food chain with solutions that add value to customers and well-being of society and among the items the Real H Quality Policy is the environmental responsibility that “aims to stimulate, develop and refine practices and projects that contribute to the quality of life and environmental preservation,” so the Cycles Project is consistent with the highest dictates that guide the company.
Until October 2014 the Real H sent for recycling more than 400 tons of solid waste, but not only that, the Cycles Project has other extensions:
“Cycles -Knowledge”, which provides employees a library with adult and children’s collections, originating from discards and donations from contributors;
“Cycles -Water Reuse”, the rainwater is collected, filtered, chlorinated and stored in large tanks (200,000 liters) and is used for cleaning the sidewalks and in the discharge of the company’s bathrooms;
“Cycles -Conscious Disposal”, which is the collection and routing for proper disposal of batteries and expired drugs to the appropriate destination.
